It’s all well and good caring for your nails, but doing this in the right way is what makes the difference. A manicure is not something for the rich and famous. It is important that you take care of your nails. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on it. You can even learn how to manicure your nails from home. Of course once in a while it is nice to spoil yourself and take yourself off to a spa.
I know there are a lot of women who are very practical with their hands. For me, I do a lot of gardening and if I don’t pay attention to my nails, fingers and hands, they will just deteriorate. I hate wearing gloves, so you really take the time and effort with this.
This is not difficult. There are just a couple of tips and tricks that you should stick to:
Buffing – this is essential and you will start to see the difference almost immediately. Not only is circulation improved, but you will also start to notice the fantastic shine of the surface of your nail.
You need to care for your nails so that torn and cracked nails don’t become a feature. If this does happen, don’t rip them. Just tape them up, otherwise you are going to go through some pain.
Brittle nails – Some of us are just fortunate and are born with strong nails, whilst others suffer more. Clear nail polish is going to help to some extent. However, you just need to focus on a routine and attend to nails that break as soon as possible. A good diet is also going to help, with extra protein, biotin and iron.
Painting your nails
Start off with a good nail polish, especially if you have brittle nails. Once you have found something that you would normally wear on a daily basis, which also goes with your personality as well as what you normally wear, you can start painting.
Remember that your nails should be shaped, trimmed, cut and filed in one direction before you start painting; otherwise you are going to have problems.
Some people will stick with one color thorough their lives, and others will change colors according to trends. Everyone is different, so you just have to find what best works for you.
Scrape any leftover polish on the side of the bottle and start by applying even strokes. If you rush this, it won’t look as good, so make sure that you are patient with it. If this is your first time, don’t get frustrated if it doesn’t work out the first time. Everyone was once in the same position.
Moisturizing your nails
This step is very important because you have to prevent your nails from becoming too dry and when this happens, they are more likely to break. Find a good hand and nail cream, which contains good ingredients.
This could be things like jojoba oil or olive oil. I recommend the Aqua Mineral Nail Kit, which I have been using for the last year. This is made in Israel, using minerals from the Dead Sea. These are excellent. People come here just for the healing qualities that the salts provide.
If you have brittle nails, then this is a good place to start because the kit comes with a buffer that actually helps strengthen your nails. However, you should only use this for a certain time; otherwise it is going to do more harm than good. It also leaves the most fantastic shine.
